VisiRing ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the VisiRing platform, mobile app, and physical products.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

When you create a VisiRing account or use our services, we may collect:

  • Phone number (for notification purposes, stored encrypted)
  • Billing information (processed by our payment provider, not stored directly)
  • Tag names, item descriptions, and photos you upload
  • Contact preferences you configure
  • Messages exchanged through our contact bridge

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • QR code scan events (timestamp, approximate geolocation if permitted)
  • Device type, operating system, and browser information
  • App usage analytics (anonymised)
  • IP address and session data

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Deliver and operate the VisiRing service
  • Send you scan alerts and notifications
  • Bridge contact between tag owners and finders — without exposing personal details
  • Improve and develop our products
  • Respond to support requests
  • Send transactional communications (receipts, security alerts)
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. How We Protect Your Information

We use industry-standard security measures including:

  • TLS 1.3 encryption for all data in transit
  • AES-256 encryption for data at rest
  • Access controls and role-based permissions
  • Regular security audits and penetration testing
  • Incident response procedures

Your phone number is never displayed on scan pages. It is stored encrypted and used only to deliver notifications to you.

4. Information Shared with Finders

When someone scans your tag, they see only what you have explicitly chosen to share: typically an item name, a contact form, and/or a VisiRing-managed messaging interface. We do not expose your name, phone number, email address, or home address to finders under any circumstances.

5. Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party providers for:

  • Payment processing (Stripe)
  • Cloud infrastructure (AWS, encrypted at rest)
  • Push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging)
  • Analytics (anonymised, no personal data exported)

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Scan history is retained for the period covered by your subscription plan. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting privacy@visiring.com.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights including:

  • Right to access your personal data
  • Right to correct inaccurate data
  • Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten")
  • Right to data portability
  • Right to object to processing
